The annual awards hosted by the national secular society, saw The Southall Black Sisters receive the £5,000 Michael Irwin prize for secularist of the year. The chair of the organisation Pragna Patel was awarded the prize at the ceremony on the 13th of February.
The organisation started work in April 1979. The Southall black sisters was established during the Southall race riots and has continued helping the community ever since.
